Stack's Bowers February 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73301

This specimen was lot 73301 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 6 Mariengroschen (1/6 Taler), 1799-PLM. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg III (George III of Great Britain). PCGS MS-62. Rather deeply toned, this engaging minor dazzles with some muted brilliance emanating from beneath along with a pleasing and fairly well executed strike. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This denomination was struck with a wild man reverse 1793-1800. The bust obverse appears on KM 404, also dated 1799-PLM. It is somewhat scarcer.
