This specimen was lot 2525 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "HAMBURG: Free Hanseatic City, AR 8 schilling, 1797, a lovely example, PCGS graded MS63." This denomination was struck in two varieties in 1797: KM 516 (small castle, date above eagle, shown here) and KM 515 (large castle, date below eagle). This example realized about two-thirds of the catalog value.
Recorded mintage: 206,000 including KM 515.
Specification: 5.5 g, 0.625 fine silver, 30 mm diameter.
