This specimen was lot 33536 in Heritage sale 3114 (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $3,840. The lot description[1] noted, "German States: Hamburg. Free City gold Ducat 1757-IHL MS64 NGC. A remarkable, semi-Prooflike representative weaving near-Gem peripheries upon reflective fields. The sole finest recorded by NGC." This type was struck 1754-65 in small numbers. Hamburg did not give up minting ducats until 1872, amid the coinage reform resulting from unification. Double ducats (Fr-1124) also exist.
