Sincona sale 97, lot 1378
Schwabisch Hall in 1786

This specimen was lot 1378 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Schwäbisch Hall, Stadt, Batzen 1516, Hall. Mit Titel Maximilians. Gutes sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Münzen & Medaillen Deutschland GmbH 16, Stuttgart, Mai 2005, Los 1338. (Germany, city of Hall, batzen of 1516, Hall mint, struck in the name of emperor Maximilian. Good Very Fine.)"

The city of Schwabisch Hall is so called to distinguish it from other towns of the same name, particularly Hall in Tyrol, which operated a prolific mint in the sixteenth century. The issues of Schwabisch Hall are generally rare and this one is no exception. This type was also struck in 1517.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: 3.42-4.03 g, silver, 28 mm diameter, this specimen 3.69 g.

Catalog reference: KM MB2, Raff 26.
