This specimen was lot 1603 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 1,250 (about US$1,647 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Taler 1545. Gutes sehr schön. (Germany, city of Swabian Hall, thaler of 1545, good very fine.)"
The city of Schwabisch Hall is so called to distinguish it from other towns of the same name, particularly Hall in Tyrol, which operated a prolific mint in the sixteenth century. The issues of Schwabisch Hall are generally rare and this one is no exception. This one year type was accompanied by a double thaler (Dav-9212).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
