This specimen was lot 20471 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $9,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "HAITI. 1000 Gourdes, 1968-IC. NGC PROOF-65 Ultra Cameo. Serial numbered as #2611 on the reverse. Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Revolution, this piece features the bust of Dr. François 'Papa Doc' Duvalier, president for life. A brilliant and attractive proof issue, offering an intense cameo nature and containing nearly 6 ounces of gold." While the Haitian people starved, the regime issued numerous silver and gold commemoratives which were issued to insiders and sold abroad. A twenty gourde (KM 66), hundred gourde (KM 69) and two hundred gourde gold coins (KM 70) accompany this issue.

Recorded mintage: unknown but at least 2,611.
