This specimen was lot 2480 in Goldberg sale 78 (Los Angeles, January 2014), where it sold for $7,168. The catalog description[1] noted, "Haiti. 1000 Gourdes, 1967. For the 10th Anniversary of Revolution. Dr. François Duvalier. In original case of issue. Choice Brilliant Proof." While the Haitian people starved, the regime issued numerous silver and gold commemoratives which were issued to insiders and sold abroad. A twenty gourde (KM 66), hundred gourde (KM 69) and two hundred gourde gold coins (KM 70) accompany this issue.
