This type was struck 1882-83, 1887, 1890 and 1895 and is not rare in circulated condition tho is a better type. All issues seem to have been struck at the Paris mint. The coin is the same weight and fineness as a contemporary French 2½ francs.
Recorded mintage: 900,000 (including proofs).
Specification: 12.5 g, 0.835 fine silver, .335 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
