Haiti 1881 centime
The first specimen was lot 41026 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "HAITI. Centime, 1881. NGC PROOF-64 Brown. This beautifully preserved survivor exhibits a bold strike with smooth chocolate brown patina. The obverse displays a glossy sheen with and iridescent that pop out when tilted in the light, while the reverse is more even with slightly subdued surfaces. A highly attractive representative of the type that would make a great addition to many collections." The coin is the same weight and module as a contemporary French five centimes. Altho made in Paris, it lacks a mintmark.
