Guatemala 1888-G peso
This specimen was lot 23417 in Heritage sale 61343 (Dallas, TX, November 2023), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "Challenging Near-Choice Guatemalan Peso Republic Peso 1888-G MS62 NGC. A difficult type to acquire, with the last appearance at one of our auctions dating to 2015 with a Fine Details example. This is a stunning rendition of the type, bested by a single example at NGC, with Prooflike flash that reveals itself during in-hand inspection, along with a flurry of polychromatic tone. According to the entry in the Sedwick auction, this piece is pedigreed to the Jess Peters 1973 Higgins sale as well as the Alex Safie and Roberto Ulloa collections. Ex. Ulloa Collection; Sedwick Treasure Auction 19 (May 2016, Lot 1443)." This type was struck 1879, 1882 and 1888-89 and all dates are scarce to rare.
