This specimen was lot 3052 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $1150. The catalog description[1] noted, "1869 R 20 pesos. AU-58 (NGC). Types as above. Lustrous medium gold, reflective and appealing, mark on Carrera's cheek, tiny obverse rim bruise at 3:00, other light marks. A scarce issue and a one year type. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942." In 1869, gold four, five, eight, ten and 16 pesos pieces were struck in addition to the twenty pesos shown here.
