This specimen was lot 878 in Aureo y Calicó sale 246 (Barcelona, September 2012), where it sold for 47 € (about US$71 including buyer's fees). The catalog[1] noted,

"Fernando VII (1808-1833). 1821. Guatemala. M. 1 real. Preciosa pátina. MBC/MBC+. (Ferdinand VII, 1808-33, one real of 1821, Guatemala mint, beautiful patina, extremely fine to choice extremely fine.)"

This specimen is one of a series struck 1811-1821 at Guatemala during the reign of Ferdinand VII (1808-33). The type is not rare but nice specimens always bring a premium.

Specification: 3.38 grams, 0.896 fine silver, .097 troy oz ASW.
