This specimen was lot 35271 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it sold for $423. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles III 8 Reales 1785 NG-M Very Good, Nueva Guatemala mint. Fine in terms of wear with moderate surfaces corrosion and some scratches in the fields. Still collectible, since among the 3 or 4 rarest dates of this scarce type. From The Santa Maria Collection." This type is listed for 1772-76 (mintmark "G"), 1777-85 (mintmark "NG", 0.903 fine) and 1786-87 (.896 fine). All dates are scarce and some are rare.
