Sedwick sale 9, lot 1599

This type was struck 1760-71 at Guatemala. This specimen was lot 1599 in Sedwick sale 9 (Winter Park, FL, April 2011), where it sold for $322. The catalog description[1] noted, "Guatemala, pillar 4 reales, Charles III, 1761P. Slightly crude (unevenly struck) Fine with repaired hole at bottom, deeply toned fields." This date is listed as "R2" in Gilboy, or less than fifty specimens known.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.917 fine silver, .399 troy oz AGW, this specimen 13.1 grams.
