Greece 1912 10 lepta
The first coin shown is a nickel ten lepta minted in Paris (as noted by the privy marks). The reverse features an owl seated on an amphora. It is accompanied by nickel five (KM 62) and twenty lepta (KM 64). French designer Charles Pillet is also remembered for designing the "Caballito" peso of Mexico. In 1922, the Greek monarchy was overthrown as a consequence of the defeat by the Turks and a republic established which lasted until 1935. The second specimen was lot 77615 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $408. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREECE. 10 Lepta, 1912. Paris Mint. George I. PCGS AU-53. Type without privy marks." The second example is a rare variety.
