Great Britain 2009 50 pence KM-1114
This specimen was lot 47490 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 50 Pence, 2009. Llantrisant Mint. Elizabeth II. CHOICE PROOF. Struck to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Kew Gardens." This commemorative was issued in many formats.
Recorded mintage: 210,000 in copper-nickel plus 128,364 for collector sets plus 36,296 proofs plus 11,492 silver proofs (shown here) plus 629 gold proofs plus 2,967 silver piedforts plus 40 gold piedforts.
Specification: 8 g, copper nickel, 27.3 mm diameter, plain edge, or 0.925 fine silver (shown here), or 15.5 g, 0.917 fine gold.
