This specimen was lot 1827 in Goldberg sale 122 (Los Angeles, June 2021), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. 2 Pounds, 1993. Elizabeth II. Reverse: St. George slaying the dragon. In original case. Choice Brilliant Proof." This denomination was a revival of the old two pounds struck in Victorian and Edwardian times. It was accompanied by a gold half sovereign, sovereign and five pounds, also not intended to circulate. Numerous types of base metal two pound coins exist which actually circulate.

Recorded mintage: 3,000 proofs.

Specification: 16.92 g, 0.917 fine gold. Weight 0.4694 ounce.
