This specimen was lot 56874 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Sovereign, 1985. Llantrisant Mint. Elizabeth II. GEM PROOF." This type of 1985-97 was not made in large numbers but these were sold to investors and collectors and not issued for circulation.
Recorded mintage: 25,000.
