Steve Album Auction 53, lot 3153

This specimen was lot 3153 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN: Elizabeth II, 1952-2022, 1 shilling, 1959, a pleasing mint state example, ACG graded MS62." This type of 1954-70, along with the English crest shilling (KM 904), was the last shilling issued prior to decimalization. It was allowed to circulate as a five pence into the eighties.

Recorded mintage: 1,012,999 plus proofs plus 19,443,000 of KM 904.

Specification: 5.65 g, copper-nickel, 23.5 mm diameter.
