This specimen was lot 51104 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $4,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Crown, 1947. London Mint. George VI. PCGS PROOF-65 Deep Cameo. A VERY RARE opportunity for a proof version of the emission, this delightful specimen delivers a subtle burnished orange nature to the tone and ample radiant brilliance." This type was struck 1947-48. It was the first copper-nickel half crown but still had the reverse legend "FID:DEF IND:IMP".
Recorded mintage: 21,910,000 plus a few proofs.
