This specimen was lot 76291 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTHERN RHODESIA. 1/2 Crown, 1947. London Mint. George VI. NGC MS-64+. From the Richard Margolis Collection." Rhodesia, named after diamond magnate Cecil Rhodes, was created a self-governing colony of Britain in 1923. Coinage commenced in 1932. The colony was federated with Northern Rhodesia in 1956 but is now Zimbabwe. This type was struck 1947 only and superseded the half crown of 1944-46, which only 0.500 fine silver.

Recorded mintage: 6,000,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 14.14 g, copper-nickel, 32.3 mm diameter.
