The first specimen was part of lot 24090 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $646.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria and later coppers, bronzes and silver: a mixed lot of pleasing type coins, mostly Victoria and very choice, also an Edward VII Penny 1902 with luster, and a George VI Crown 1937. Some gorgeous silver coins included here, so have a good look!" The crown fell out of favor after queen Victoria's death and was struck only occasionally. This one-year type honors the inauguration of the reign of George VI and no more were struck until 1951, when the issue was copper-nickel.

Recorded mintage: 419,000 plus 26,000 proofs.

Specification: 28.27 g, 0.500 fine silver, 38.5 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Dav-112, KM 857.
