This specimen was lot 2943 in Goldberg sale 91 (Los Angeles, June 2016), where it sold for $64.62. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Shilling, 1916 Choice Brilliant Unc. George V. Unusually sharply struck for a currency coin of the wartime period. Light golden tone. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated." This type was struck in large numbers 1911-19, then reduced to 0.500 fine in 1920. The SCWC notes that the issues of World War One frequently come weak.
