This specimen was lot 6635 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $493.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Sovereign, 1916. PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder. Choice with fantastic eye appeal." This was issued in large numbers 1911-17 with another issue in 1925 during Britain's last attempt to maintain the gold standard. Sovereigns minted since 1937 were for collectors and bullion investors and not intended to circulate.

Recorded mintage: 1,554,000.

Specification: 7.98 g, 0.917 fine gold.
