Stack's Bowers October 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71090

This specimen was lot 71090 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Sovereign, 1898. London Mint. Victoria. NGC MS-62. A well struck and softly lustrous coin, with dark golden color." This specimen is from a type was struck 1893-1901 in large numbers. A half sovereign was worth ten shillings.

Recorded mintage: 2,689,000.
