This specimen was lot 70822 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $110. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1890. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. A lustrous, choice, and mostly steel gray example, presenting a hint of alluring golden toning near portions of the peripheries." This type was struck 1887-89 then slightly modified for 1889-92. The 1887 was extensively saved but the other dates are a little harder to find.
Recorded mintage: 8,794,000.
Specification: 5.65 g, 0.925 fine silver, 23.5 mm diameter.
