Sincona sale 86, lot 1697

This specimen was lot 1697 in Sincona sale 86 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$572 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Victoria, 1837-1901. Half Sovereign 1890, London. Jubilee head, shield reverse. Rare. NGC MS61."

This bust was used on the half sovereign, or ten shilling coin, 1887-93. This date is common.

Recorded mintage: 2,266,000.

Specification: 3.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen 4.00 g.
