This specimen was lot 71087 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Farthing, 1888. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-66 Red. A bright Gem example if this minor issue. Fully lustrous and brilliant, it will find a welcome place in the next collection it enters." This type was introduced in 1860 with a slightly modified obverse used 1874-95. Numerous varieties exist, some rare. The Heaton mint contributed farthings, halfpence and pence in 1874-76 and 1881-82.
