This specimen was lot 1584 in Goldberg sale 116 (Los Angeles, June 2020), where it sold for $66. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Currency Threepence, 1888. Victoria. Gem Unc with light golden blue cabinet tone. Choice Uncirculated." This type was struck 1887-93 and was the smallest circulating silver coin. It was replaced by the "old head" in 1893.
Recorded mintage: 523,000 + 4,488 for the sets.
