This specimen was lot 70787 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $110. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 3 Pence, 1885. London Mint. Victoria. NGC MS-64. A lovely near-Gem with concentric bands of rainbow tone circling both sides." This threepence, roughly equal to a half dime, was struck 1838-87 and is common in all grades.

Recorded mintage: 5,188,000 + 4,488 for the Maundy sets.

Specification: 1.41 g, 0.925 fine silver, 16 mm diameter.
