This specimen was lot 3244 in Goldberg sale 78 (Los Angeles, January 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Penny, 1877. Large date. Victoria. A scarce and beautiful uncirculated coin with virtually full mint red. NGC graded MS-64 Red & Brown." This penny was struck 1860-94 in several varieties and is common, tho the proofs are rare. Large and small dates are noted for the year, with the small date listed as rare.
Recorded mintage: 9,625,000 plus proofs.
