This specimen was lot 20967 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Sixpence 1858, Young Head, MS68 PCGS, a magnificent coin, fully struck from clashed dies, with spectacular satiny cartwheel luster, and 'wonder toning' -- a perfect blend of golden blue iridescence. Virtual perfection, and the coin against which all others should be compared. From The Kairos Collection." This type was struck 1838-66 in large quantities with a slightly modified obverse continuing until 1887. A rare 1858/56 overdate is reported for the year.
