from Steve Album sale 45, lot 2704

This specimen was lot 2704 in Stephen Album sale 45 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2023), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN: Victoria, 1837-1901, AR shilling, 1858, a lovely lustrous example! NGC graded MS63." This shilling was struck 1838-87 for circulation. This subtype, without die numbers, was issued 1838-63. Proofs exist of this date.

Recorded mintage: 3,109,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 5.65 g, 0.925 fine silver, .168 troy oz ASW, 23.5 mm diameter.
