This specimen was lot 72409 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Penny, 1837. London Mint. William IV. PCGS MS-62 Brown. A handsome Mint State survivor, this wonderful piece yields strong details and a soft glossiness that is seldom interluded by contact or marking." Half pence were struck for William IV 1831, 1834 and 1837 and priced about the same as halfpence of George IV. The 1837 has the lowest mintage but is the most available of the three dates.
