This specimen was lot 31686 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: William IV Proof 6 Pence 1837 PR65 NGC. A Gem proof rarity, with spectacular eye appeal. Silky, flawless surfaces glow with a delicate silver luster turning red gold at the edges, well-struck with an excellent portrait of William. An altogether elite Sixpence. Ex. Eric P. Newman Collection." This type was struck for William IV 1831 and 1834-37 in fairly large numbers and this is an available date.
