This specimen was lot 24290 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "George IV gold Sovereign 1827, Bare Head, AU58 NGC, lustrous and boldly detailed, lovely light yellow gold. Very scarce date." This type was struck for George IV 1825-30 and despite substantial mintages, all the dates are scarce.
Recorded mintage: 2,267,000.
