The first specimen was lot 4836 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $437. The catalog description [1] noted, "Great Britain. Shilling, 1817. George III. Lovely bluish green and gold iridescent toning. NGC graded MS-66." The type was struck 1816-20 and features the bust of George III, by then subject to the regency of his son the Prince of Wales.
Recorded mintage: 23,031,000 plus a few proofs (highest mintage for any shilling in the nineteenth century).
Specification: 5.65 g, 0.925 fine silver, .168 troy oz.
