Sincona sale 82, lot 1769

This specimen was lot 1769 in Sincona sale 82 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 1,000 CHF (about US$1,338 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "George II. 1727-1760. 1/2 Guinea 1749, London. Old laureate head. Äusserst selten (Extremely rare). NGC XF Details. Leicht gebogen (Slightly bent. From Dolphin Coins Fixed Price List, London, September 1997, lot 140." This particular bust, the "old head", was used on half guineas of 1747-60. This date is not listed in the SCWC and is noted in Friedberg as "Very rare".
