Sincona sale 82, lot 1750

This specimen was lot 1750 in Sincona sale 82 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 4,250 CHF (about US$5,688 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "George II. 1727-1760. Guinea 1738, London. Second young laureate head. Selten (Rare). NGC UNC Details. Minimale Haarlinien (Minimal hairlines)." Guineas were struck for George II 1727-60; this particular bust was used 1733-38; some 1739 guineas are marked "EIC" for East India Company.
