Great Britain 1729 guinea
This specimen was lot 205 in Sincona sale 75 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 24,000 CHF (about US$ including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Grossbritannien | Königreich. George II. 1727-1760. Proof Guinea 1729, London. Second young head, plain edge. Äusserst selten. NGC PF61. Prachtvolle Erhaltung mit feiner Goldtönung. (kingdom of Great Britain, George II, 1727-60, guinea of 1729, second head, plain edge. Proof, Extremely rare, Beautiful condition with nice gold toning.)"
The young head was used with minor variations 1727-38. This, the second variety, was used 1729-32. A guinea with "E.I.C." below the bust (KM 573.2) also appeared in 1729 but has a much higher price.
