This specimen was lot 1251 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 4,500 CHF (about US$5,393 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, George II. 1727-1760. Guinea 1731, London. Second young laureate head. NGC AU58." This bust was used on the guinea 1730-32. A variety exists (Fr-340) with "E.I.C." below the bust, indicating gold from the East India Company. Guineas were superseded by sovereigns during the reform of 1817.
