Great Britain 1720 1/2 crown
This specimen was lot 30905 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $4,935. The catalog description[1] noted, "George I 1/2 Crown 1720/17 AU58 NGC, Royal mint. Plumes and roses in angles of shield. Very clear overdate. Exquisite toning, and actually quite a bit more luster than one would expect for the grade. A few scattered marks and very slight rub on the high points prevent this piece from attaining the Mint State level. Nonetheless, superb eye appeal for the type and a piece that should still appeal to the quality-conscious collector." This type was issued 1715, 1717 and 1720. The 1720/17 overdate is cheaper than regular date.
