This specimen was lot 32711 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. George I 1/2 Crown 1715 AU50 NGC. Displaying appealing mint gloss underneath a rich layering of silver patination that evenly blankets the surfaces. A scarcer issue when located close to Mint State." This is the first half crown struck for the new king. This design was used again in 1717 and 1720, then superseded by the "South Sea Company" half crown of 1723.
