Sincona sale 75, lot 166

This specimen was lot 166 in Sincona sale 75 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 6,000 CHF (about US$7,283 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Grossbritannien | Königreich. William III. und Mary, 1689-1694. 1/2 Guinea 1694, London. Second conjoined busts. NGC AU58. Feine Goldtönung. (kingdom of Great Britain, William III and Mary II, 1689-94, half guinea of 1694, London mint, second busts. Nice gold toning.)"

This type was struck 1690-94. Half guineas of 1691-92 are known with the elephant and castle below the bust. These obtain a substantial premium.
