Sincona sale 75, lot 168

This specimen was lot 168 in Sincona sale 75 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 5,750 CHF (about US$6,979 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Grossbritannien | Königreich. William III. 1694-1702. 1/2 Guinea 1695, London. Second laureate bust. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. NGC MS63. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (kingdom of Great Britain, William III, 1694-1702, half guinea of 1695, London mint, second bust. Rare in this quality, Magnificent condition.)"

This type was struck 1695 only. Half guineas of 1695-96 are known with the elephant and castle below the bust. These obtain a substantial premium.
