Sincona sale 75, lot 122

This specimen was lot 122 in Sincona sale 75 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 8,000 CHF (about US$9,711 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Grossbritannien | Königreich. Commonwealth, 1649-1660. Double crown or 1/2 Unite of 10 shillings 1653, London. Mintmark sun. 15 laurel leaves. NGC MS62. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. (Extraordinary condition.)" This type was struck 1649-57 and was accompanied by a gold crown (KM 393.1, five shillings) and unite (KM 395.1, twenty shillings). All are rare.
