This specimen was lot 24859 in Heritage sale 3015 (Long Beach, September 2011), where it sold for $2,875. The catalog description^[1] noted,

"Commonwealth Crown 1653, Sun mm, AU50 NGC, residual luster, nice broad flan, tiny metal-flaw crack into final digit of the date, the obverse particularly well struck, light gray surfaces. Scarce in high grade like this."

This type was struck 1649-56. It is the first English coin to bear English legends.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 30.10 g, 0.925 fine silver.
