This specimen was lot 1140 in Sincona sale 79 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 9,000 CHF (about US$10,787 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, Commonwealth, 1649-1660. Gold crown of 5 shillings 1652/0, London. Mintmark sun. Rare. NGC MS62. Magnificent condition." By 1652, king Charles was dead and his son fled into exile but Cromwell was unable to bring unity to England. The gold coins of his rule (unite, double crown and crown) are all rare.
