This specimen was lot 75019 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Groat, ND (1621-23). London Mint; mm: thistle. James I. PCGS MS-62. Obverse: Crowned rose, I:D:G:ROSA SINE SPINA around; Reverse: Crowned thistle, TVEATVR VNITA DEVS around. PCGS population 1, 1 finer. Fairly well centered and struck, this enticing minor from the reign of James I features near-complete legends, boldly defined centers, delightful satiny luster, and an enchanting cabinet tone with hints of sapphire coloration. At the upper echelon of those graded by PCGS, it is a scarce opportunity worthy of a strong bid."
