Stack's Bowers 2024 NYINC sale, lot 56705
SB124-56705 rev.jpg

This specimen was lot 56705 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 6 Pence, 1621. London Mint; mm: Rose. James I. NGC MS-62. From an Old Brooklyn Collection." For some reason, the sixpence was the only coin of James I that regularly bore dates. That is why we know that this type was struck 1621-24.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.01 g, 0.925 fine silver.

Catalog reference: S-2670; KM-77; N-2126.
